MRS. OCTAVIUS CHAFFEY.
One of the oldest, and most highly respected residents of the district, Mrs. Octavius Chaffey, died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Graham, in Roderick street, Tamworth, early yesterday morning.
Mrs. Chaffey was a native of Tamworth, and first saw the light of day 58 years ago. Deceased, who had resided in Tintinhull for the past 36 years, had enjoyed robust health up to the beginning of the year, when she complained of feeling unwell. Deceased's husband, Mr. Octavius Chaffey died on the 18th June, 1896. He was one of the oldest pioneer settlers, and was widely known throughout the district.
Mrs. Chaffey had been married twice and is survived by a large number of children, and grand-children. Following are the children, of deceased:— Mrs. Sivyer, of Woodhouse, Gidley; Mrs. T. Kelly, Loomberah; Mrs. Asbury, Dungowan; Mrs. J. Burgess, Nemingha; Mrs Carmichael, Tintinhull; Mrs Graham, Tamworth; Mr. Frederick Chaffey, Loomberah; Messrs. Jack, Joseph, Robert, and Cecil Chaffey, of Tintinhull; Mr. Thomas Goodman, Tintinhull and Mr. Alex. Goodman, Loomberah.
The funeral takes place this morning, leaving the residence of deceased's daughter, in Roderick street, at 11 o'clock. The remains will be interred in the Church of England cemetery at West Tamworth.
