      Allen Fairhall was born on 24 November 1909 in Morpeth, New South Wales.
Allen was qualified to hold an amateur radio licence and shortly after began radio broadcasts using borrowed gramophone records for usical interludes. His broadcast licence was granted in 1930, and he launched Radio Station 2KO, broadcasting a few hours each day and in the first month earned £4. in 1927.

Allen Fairhall married Monica Clelland Ballantyne, daughter of John Ballantyne and Ellen Langley O'Rourke, on 23 April 1936 in Randwick, New South Wales.
Allen was was elected to Newcastle City Council, and served as Chief Warden of National Emergency Services for the city. At a national level, he was appointed Supervising Engineer of Radio and Signals Supplies for the Commonwealth Dept. of Munitions After the War, Allen sold 2KO and purchased a dairy farm at East Gresford on 7 December 1941.
Allen was Federal Member for the electorate of Paterson, during which time he served as Minister for the Interior and Works (1956-1958), Minister for Supply (1965-1966) and Minister for Defence (26 Jan 1966-12 Nov 1969) between 10 December 1949 and 29 September 1969.
Allen was a Primary Producer, according to his entry in the Commonwealth Electoral Roll in 1954.
He and Monica Clelland lived at 'Trevallyn' in Gresford, New South Wales, in 1954.
Allen was responsible, as Minister for Supply, for negotiating the purchase of 24 F-111 jet fighters for the Australian Air Force. Later, as Minister for Defence, he inherited the delay in completion of their delivery, as well being responsible for the implementation of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War. His name was now to be recorded as Sir Allen Fairhall KBE.
He and Monica Clelland lived at 7 Parkway Avenue, Bar Beach in Newcastle, New South Wales, in 1993.
He lived at Lindgren Wing, Maroba Nursing Home, 58 Edith Street in Waratah, New South Wales, in October 2002.
