On October 1, 1904, he was transferred to gaol at Broken Hill as senior warder, and In October, 1912, he took up a similar position at Darllnghurst Gaol. On December 1. 1912, he was transferred to the charge of Deniliquln Gaol as acting gaoler, and on July 1, 1916, he was promoted to the rank of chief warder.
